CTT has Key Patent Granted

August 1, 2017 – Cambridge, UK – Cambridge Touch Technologies has recently been granted a core patent around its unique analog front end (AFE) for simultaneous force and touch sensing, increasing the range of possible applications significantly.

The patented AFE is built into a conventional multi-touch projected capacitance controller, which makes it possible for the first time to sense multi-finger force from a touch panel or display incorporating a piezoelectric layer.

The key advantages of this approach are that additional force sensing layers and components are not required as they are today, making force module manufacturing much simpler and lower cost, while increasing the range of applications well beyond just premium smartphones, into mainstream handsets, tablets, automotive, and larger devices.

CTT is currently working with its OEM customers and supply chain partners to deploy its patented multi-force technology for commercialization in various applications.
